(5b/100) HALLOUMI FRIES RECIPE
Our best-selling halloumi fries were inspired by @ipsos_restaurant and the Greek culture we have come to love in Aus.
INGREDIENTS ~ 1 x 250g halloumi cheese, cut into 8 matchstick fries
2 free range eggs, beaten
75g plain flour
75g panko crumbs
7g chia seeds
500ml vegetable oil (for shallow frying)
Pomegranate Yogurt
100ml thick Greek yogurt (10% fat)
15ml pomegranate molasses
15ml cold pressed olive oil
Juice of 1 lime
Pinch Maldon sea salt
Pinch cracked pepper
5g fresh mint leaves, chopped
5g pomegranate seeds
Pane the halloumi fries (i) in flour (ii) in beaten egg and (iii) in panko/chia seed mix. Heat oil in a medium saucepan, shallow fry halloumi fries for 5 minutes or until golden (in two batches to avoid clumping). Serve hot with pomegranate yogurt, fresh mint and pomegranate seeds.
